Are You in a Fight of Faith? Call the People of War into Battle!
Praise and worship are spiritual weapons in the fight against the enemy because they strengthen you from the inside, from a spiritual place to see victory in the fight of faith. The Lord dwells within the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3) and in His presence is everything you need to see victory over the enemy. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
You, yourself, must become an expert at fighting with spiritual weapons using the Word of God, the power of praise, and the authority of Jesus’ name in prayer. But there is another spiritual weapon that many don’t realize they have in their arsenal: Another Christian!
Your potential for victory is why Satan tries so hard to disconnect you, distract you and discourage you, and it is also why it’s so important to remain close to God’s presence in your fight of faith.
Peter wrote:
“His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:3)
Remember, no fight of faith in your life is against “earthly” powers or against “flesh and blood” – every battle season that you enter into, no matter in what form it takes, is, at its roots, a spiritual one – and YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT ALONE.
Call for Reinforcements in Your Fight of Faith!
When you’re facing a fight of faith or any battle season in your life, there is no need to fight alone! In fact, waging spiritual battles by yourself can exhaust and overwhelm you as the enemy tries to keep you trapped in what your eyes see, and what your ears hear, and how your emotions feel so your faith becomes weakened.
In Joshua 8, the Lord told Joshua to go up against the city of Ai who were well known enemies. However, the Lord didn’t expect Joshua to fight by marching around the city seven times like he’d done at Jericho, where even women and children could march.
This was a different battle with a different strategy and the victory would be won by a different type of warrior.
This time, the Lord said, “Take the people of war with you.” (Joshua 8:1) The men Joshua chose were those who had specific qualifications for this specific battle:
- They were renown men of valor.
- They were strong and experienced people of battle.
- They were already prepared and trained for war.
- They had a series of victories to their names.
- They knew how to identify an enemy’s weaknesses.
- They knew how to avoid attack and advance with courage.
Those men of war set such an effective trap for Ai that their enemies, “…had no power to flee this way or that way” and they were entirely wiped out. “So Joshua burned Ai and made it a heap forever, a desolation to this day. And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until evening.” (Joshua 8:28-29)
This is a perfect example of why believers need each other! God has given you the weapons you need to fight and win, and one of the most powerful and effective ones is the faith and experience of another believer.

All Christians, at various points in their journey of faith, are all potential soldiers for the fight, and everyone will experience battle seasons in their faith. Some you will fight within, but in other battles, you will need HELP.
In the worst seasons of your life, when your faith is struggling, it’s time to call for reinforcements.
When the enemy comes in like a flood (and he will!) against your family, your marriage, your kids, and your unsaved loved ones, or you are facing a health concern, a wound from the past, or are in need of freedom from addiction and worse, you need to “take the people of war with you” into the battle.
You are Alive to Fight Another Day – In Faith!
When you look at the lives of others in the Bible who have fought battles and won victories, you’ll notice a common theme in their lives: They never fought just one battle – and neither will you.
When you are facing a fierce battle in your faith, you must fight continually because your enemy will too. He will try to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10) your faith until you destroy the power he uses against you to seize control over your heart, your mind, and your soul. But battles can be exhausting.
According to Ecclesiastes 9:9-10,12:
“Two are better than one… For if they fall, then one will help up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has no one to help him up…. And if someone might overpower another by himself, two together can withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Surround yourself with “people of war” just like Joshua did – people who know how to obtain victory in the fight of faith and win in the battle seasons. They’ll help you wipe out the enemy in that area of your life! There are people in your life right now who you’ve seen win.
You’ve heard their testimonies. You’ve seen their miracles unfold. They’re experienced in war. They’re godly prayer warriors, fierce people of worship, and sharp with their sword, the Word. GO GET THEM.
Seek out the people who will join in your fight of faith. Humble yourself and ask for help. “Follow me as I follow Christ,” Paul wrote. (1 Corinthians 11:1) You can follow the examples of faith you see in those who have gone before you.
Ask them to help you fight, and ask them to teach you what they have learned in their own faith battles. Learn to do what they do and the next testimony of victory will be yours!
Thought for today: Call for the Lord’s Army in Your Fight of Faith
Remember that the weapons you fight with are not “natural” but are spiritual, as Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 10:4-6. Anger, fear, negative confessions, masking pain with alcohol or drugs, depression and anxiety, grudges and bitterness, or unforgiveness – those are natural weapons and you won’t win any battles with them.
Remember, you’ll see victory within yourself before you see it in the battles outside of you. Yes, the enemy will fight, but don’t give up because HE HAS TO FLEE (James 4:7) as long as you remain in the light of the presence of the Lord.
- WORSHIP makes you refuse to listen to the fear of others or even fear within yourself.
- WORSHIP makes you push past how you feel to stay in a position of faith.
- WORSHIP keeps your passion for the Lord alive when everything else seems like it is dying
- WORSHIP makes you battle ready.
- WORSHIP emboldens you from a place deep within.
- WORSHIP strengthens your spirit to stay in the fight and not give up
- WORSHIP will fix your eyes, your mind, and your heart on Jesus
- Worship is how you stay connected to the Spirit of God, and you’ll find everything you need in His presence.
- WORSHIP will keep your spirit alive and you will survive this battle to win the war!
The “people of war” are people seasoned in prayer, worship, the Word and the war. They don’t flinch or hesitate even in the face of fear – of a negative report, or a harsh word, or all hell breaking loose.

The people of war know how to stand their ground in the fight of faith and they will stand with you. They know how to use spiritual weapons effectively. Their position is one of offensive attack, not defense.
Whatever you’re facing in this battle season, take heart. You’re not alone. Find “people of war” and ask for help. Some fights can be won by just marching around in faith, but for other battles, you need a full frontal assault and to win that way, you must “take the people of war with you.”
