You have a standing invitation
"Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they continually praise You. Selah." ~Psalm 84:4

Giving thanks to God is optional- even He said so
Before Jesus Christ came, His people lived under the Law He had given through Moses that served to guide, protect, discipline and bless them. As part of the Law, a series of mandatory blood sacrifices were required to atone for sin, which would one day be fulfilled by the death of Jesus Christ to atone for sin once and for all. However, there were also three optional sacrifices people could give at any time if they wanted to. One of those was the offering of thanksgiving. No where in the Bible does God ever require a sacrifice for thanksgiving, although He does ask for it, and there are no punishments…

You have to recognize the hand of God at work before you can worship Him for it!
"One of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned with a loud voice glorifying God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks." ~Luke 17:15-16

If you give thanks for anything, give thanks for THIS…
"Now He who supplies seed to the sower and supplies bread for your food will also multiply your seed sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. So you will be enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which makes us give thanks to God." ~ 2 Corinthians 9:10-11

“Reasonable” worship, Part 1
“I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.” ~Romans 12:1

Who did Jesus worship?
"I will declare Your name to My brothers, in the midst of the congregation I will sing praise to You.” ~Psalm 22:22

God fills open mouths, not closed ones – so open wide!
“I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” ~Psalm 81:10
