sacrifice of praise

What would your worship look like if…
"Give unto the Lord, O families of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth." ~Psalm 96:7-9

You won the battle, but what did you lose?
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." ~Ephesians 6:12

You have a standing invitation
"Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they continually praise You. Selah." ~Psalm 84:4

The Spirit and the flesh battle for your attention
"I say then, walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. These are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please." ~Galatians 5:16-17

An “acceptable” sacrifice is the one God asked for
"For from the rising of the sun to its setting, My name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to My name, and a pure offering. For My name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of Hosts." ~Malachi 1:11

What can we tear off of ourselves to worship Jesus?
"A very large crowd spread their garments on the road. Others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went before Him and that followed Him cried out..." ~Matthew 21:8-9

Worship is death
The whole point of worship is to minister to the Lord, in the way that He asked for. If you really think about it, God hasn’t asked very much in return for all that He does. His great love motivates Him to bless His people, and worship, the act of thanksgiving to Him, is all He asks for in return. You may think that obedience is what He wants in return, but that is Old Testament thinking. We don’t obey God because we are scared of the punishments or because He might take away His blessing. No! We obey God because of our great love for Him. It’s the same…

Your loyalty sets you apart for blessing, but it will cost you too
"You have been set apart to Yahweh today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and He has blessed you this day.” ~Exodus 32:29

If His love has earned your loyalty, His wonders deserve your worship
The love of God is freely available to everyone- every, single human being on earth. Jesus died for each one, so that all would have the opportunity to choose salvation (2 Peter 3:9). He loves each person equally (Acts 10:34), Peter said. However, “…he who fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” (Acts 10:35) That is something entirely different. Being loved by God and being accepted by God are not the same thing, according to the Bible. It’s an unpopular sentiment, but it is Biblical truth none-the-less. As a person who has willingly chosen to serve Jesus Christ there are responsibilities and sacrifices that you need to walk…

Worship is for the mighty acts, and the every day ones too
"One of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned with a loud voice glorifying God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks." ~Luke 17:15-16
