Directions for How to Get to Heaven

The world loves to say that there are many paths to God, and it is popular to think that being a good person is how you get to heaven. In fact, even many “Christians” believe this! As the world grows darker and more violent, many Christians succumb to its “reason” and pressures and eventually start to mix the world’s religion of self with the principles of the Kingdom of God. In fact, Jesus warned of this when He said, “Because iniquity will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12) The most troubling thing is that many of those who have grown cold lack a knowledge of God’s Word and continue on with a mixed “faith” that remakes God in their image, instead of the other way around, all the while assuming they know how to get to heaven. In reality, it’s a fatal miscalculation when God’s Word is perfectly clear.

Of course, no one wants to be exposed or admonished for being in sin, yet without facing our sin and departing from it and submitting to Jesus Christ, there is no way to get to heaven. None. There are no alternative paths to heaven, and there are no other options. There is only one way to get to heaven as Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Any Other Path to Heaven is a Road to Hell

People often accuse God of “sending” people to tell because it’s easier on their conscience to blame Him than admitting they’re responsible for their rejection of Him.

The exclusive way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ, but upsets people who want to continue on in their own will and their own way. Why? Because to acknowledge that Jesus is the only way to heaven means that they are intentionally not choosing His way by living on their own terms and, by default, they are choosing hell. People often accuse God of “sending” people to tell because it’s easier on their conscience to blame Him than admitting they’re responsible for their rejection of Him.

Think of getting to heaven like this:

A friend has invited you over for dinner, but you’ve never been to their house. So, they give you directions. However, you decide you want to figure out your own way to their house- yet you’ve never been there! They know how to get you to where they are. Yet, you feel you’re familiar enough with the area and reject the directions. What happens? You’ll wander aimlessly- if you get there at all! Your Friend is waiting, but if you don’t follow the directions He gave you, you’ll never arrive.

The world has tried to “adopt” Jesus into their religion of “self”, but they have no clue who He really is! Jesus is found in and known through His Word!! Be careful about delving into the world’s ideas and philosophies or studying “secondary sources” for your spiritual growth more than you study the Word of God. If you’re spending more time on social media or reading books about God than you are spending in the Bible- you’re heading in the wrong direction! If worship, prayer and the Word are not part of your lifestyle- you’re forging your own path when the Father has given you the directions to get not only to His presence on earth, but for how to get into heaven! “Many will fall away,” Jesus said. “And many false prophets will rise and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:10-13)

Friends, “Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb. 12:2)

Thought for today: Freely Enter into the Presence of God

Did you realize there are actually directions for how to get into the presence of God? How do you get into the presence of God? “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Psalm 100:4) Gratitude is the point of origin for worship. If you want more of God, He’s found in His Word and worship expresses the Word. Jesus Christ is the way, all the way and only Jesus. Get to know Him a the WAY-maker, the TRUTH-bringer and the LIFE-giver – and stand firm when the world tries to redefine, water down or redirect the truth. ONLY JESUS.
