His fame & His name are in your hands

To know Him and to make Him known – that’s the life of faith in a nutshell. But there is a difference between the desire to know Him and actually knowing the Lord. For the Christian, our greatest desire should be that Jesus’ name be known throughout all the earth, why? Because just has He has hanged your life, He will do the same for all of mankind. When people see the evils of this world, the wickedness, the pain – many ask “How can a good God allow such bad things to happen?” The answer: In His goodness, He sent JESUS. If the whole world followed after Jesus Christ, these evils would no longer have their power!

However, the whole world doesn’t know Jesus, do they? Maybe they know of Him or have heard His name, but that’s not the same thing. The Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) Jesus gave His disciples was that they would go into “all the world” and preach the gospel to everyone! When Jesus wept over Jerusalem, He cried out, “If only you knew what would bring you peace!” (Luke 19:42) because He knew it was Him, the Prince of Peace. This is why the world must know, and this is why you must tell them. Jesus holds the power to change a life and another life and another life until the whole world on earth looks like the Kingdom of God! In Romans 10:13-15 Paul wrote, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

Jesus holds the power to change a life and another life and another life until the whole world on earth looks like the Kingdom of God!

Isaiah 26:8 says, Yes,Β Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for You; Your name and fame are the desire of our hearts.” So, if Jesus has done such great things, why don’t more people share the gospel?

Three reasons: fear, forgetfulness and a lack of faith. We become afraid of rejection or controversy. We lack faith that anything we say will make a difference. We forget the impact that Jesus Christ made in our lives when we first got saved. Many Christians are okay with worshipping His name, but spreading His fame is entirely different! Is His name and His fame the desire of your heart? Don’t hold yourself up against anything else except the upward calling for which Christ laid hold of you (Philippians 3:7-14) – but if you have the desire to make His name known, present that willingness to Him and He will take you further than you ever thought you’d go!

Thought for today

The Holy Spirit presents opportunities every, single day for you to testify of the goodness of God. Maybe you’ll see or hear of a need in someone and offer to listen and pray with them. Maybe you’ll give someone a ride and tell them about Jesus. Maybe you’ll overhear a conversation and speak up. Maybe the Lord will show you someone at the store to just walk up to and say, “Jesus put you on my heart and He wants you to know that He loves you.” You will make an impact in this world when you make the name of Jesus known. Maybe you won’t see it – in fact the book of Hebrews shoes that many people of faith died without seeing the end result of their actions, but “These all died in faith not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar were assured of them, embraced them.” (Hebrews 11:3) Don’t stop. Get louder. Take a risk. Be bold. Step outside of your comfort zone – like Jesus did! There IS a plan to change the world and you ARE an important part of it. His name and His fame are in your hands… and the world is waiting!
