“Who will go for Us?”

"We have such trust through Christ toward God, not that we are sufficient in ourselves to take credit for anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us able ministers of the new covenant..." ~2 Corinthians 3:4-6

You may have never realized it, but you are an integral part of God’s winning strategy over Satan. Maybe you don’t feel like an important person in the Kingdom, but God thinks you are – and Satan knows it too! That’s why he works to hard to distract you with your own problems and to keep you so busy that you’re spread to thin and overwhelmed or so focused on the issues and tasks of life that you just can’t operate in the calling God has for you right now. Paul wrote, “We have such trust through Christ toward God, not that we are sufficient in ourselves to take credit for anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us able ministers of the new covenant…” (2 Corinthians 3:4-6)

What does that mean? It means that your primary purpose in this life is to share the Gospel and that – even though you don’t feel like you’re ready – you are equipped and ready to change the world! How? Even a Christian who has been saved for 1 hour has a testimony to share with the Christian who has been saved for 5 minutes. Don’t try to be someone else. Speak from what you know, your experiences of God’s goodness, faithfulness and mercy. The rest? That’s what the Holy Spirit is for! God has entwined Himself with human agency in order to accomplish His purposes – so has Satan. Both the Lord and the enemy need partnership with humanity to accomplish their purposes.

Fear and love are two opposing forces that battle within the Christian, and you are, right now, serving one or the other.

This doesn’t not mean God has limitations, but that He has bound Himself under His own power to His creation through relationship and because we have free will to make our own choices, our choice to invite Him in and to operate according to His plans creates a spiritual connection that carries the power to change the world! If God didn’t need people, He’d simply override human will and everyone would follow Him. In His love, He gave us all a choice and when we – His people – speak the living, powerful, active Word of God into a situation, God “watches over His Word to see it performed” and lives are transformed by that power! (Jeremiah 1:12) In the book of Isaiah, the Lord said, “…who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” And He said, “Go, and tell the people…” Do you realize that “the eyes of the Lord move about on all the earth to strengthen the heart that is completely toward Him.”? (2 Chronicles 16:9) Do you realize that, The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.”? (Psalm 14:2) He is looking for YOU. Will you help??

Thought for today

Here’s the thing: You cannot serve two masters. Fear and love are two opposing forces that battle within the Christian, and you are, right now, serving one or the other. But Paul wrote, “You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.” (2 Corinthians 6:12) Nothing is holding you back, in reality. Yet you struggle to break free from what you’ve bound yourself with, “your own affections”, your fears, inhibitions, past experiences, the “what if’s”… You’ll have to step outside of yourself in order to walk in the Kingdom of God! The world needs you, your testimony, your personality, your faith, even if it’s small. Remember that what you see around you is an act of the will, it’s a choice – don’t be deceived into thinking that what you see with your eyes or experience in this life is real. If that were true, you’d never be able to see a miracle! If you don’t see immediate results, who cares? Your physical eyes cannot spiritual things! Remember that the Lord, Himself said,My word be goes forth [and] it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) You be faithful to speak the Word and God will be faithful to bring the power!
