783,137 swords - The Way of the Worshipper

Have you ever faced those seasons in life where you’re walking through a battle experience and maybe, just a little bit, way, down deep inside, you are a tiny bit afraid that the “weapons of our warfare” (2 Corinthians 10:4) aren’t enough to win? Did you ever think that the “helmet of salvation”, the “breastplate of righteousness”, the “shield of faith”, the “shoes of peace”, the “belt of truth” and the “sword of the Spirit” aren’t really REAL weapons, in the sense that they’re enough to fight a REAL enemy with?

If you look at Ephesians 6:13-17 where our spiritual armor and weapons are listed, you’ll notice that in that list there is only one actual weapon (although Biblical-era warriors sometimes utilize their shield as a weapon as well). It’s the sword of the Spirit – the Bible, as Paul wrote in that passage. ONE SWORD?! True, it’s the Bible, but it’s ONE SWORD. Against Satan’s entire army of minions, demons, angels under darkness and wicked human beings. How do you fight all of that with one sword? I’ve often asked that question to the Lord and have fought in faith, trusting that my one sword would be enough, but as I’ve battled in life, the Lord has opened my eyes to this truth: Every, single word ever written in the Word of God is a sword, not just “the Bible”.

For the sake of simplicity, I’m going to use the King James Bible as an example. There are 783,137 words in the King James Authorized Bible. Every word is a weapon to fight with! GO. STAND. FIGHT. REJOICE. HIDE. TRUST. RUN. REST. PRAISE. HOPE. WAIT. WORSHIP. KNEEL. NO!! AMEN! BELIEVE. DELIVERER. STOP. HALLELUJAH. WORTHY. FORGIVEN. JESUS!!! Add just one more word and the power continues to grow: LET GO. STEP BACK. HE ANSWERED! HE HEARD. HE CAME. HAVE MERCY. MY REFUGE. STRONG TOWER. SET FREE! Can you imagine how the power grows as you add to that?? When you build your life around the Word of God and stay connected to Him in praise and worship, you become attuned to His voice and as you draw closer to Him in all seasons of life and seek Him for a word, He will send it. And even if it is literally JUST ONE WORD – you have the exact right weapon of power in your hand.

Just one word from the Lord has more spiritual, emotional and even physical power to ignite transformation in your life and your situations than any other weapon you’ll ever use. You are not weaponless.

You are not weaponless. You are not stuck with “the Bible” and “prayer” and “worship” against the army pursuing you. Remember, with the Holy Spirit speaking to you through the Word of God, you – as one person – have more weapons at your disposal than your enemies. Need more weapons? Grab another Christian and start to fast, pray, study the Word and worship together! Can you imagine what a battle would look if every single soldier could wield 783,137 swords all at once?? YOU ARE GOING TO WIN.

Thought for today

It’s a lie from Satan to discourage, defeat and scare you when you think you don’t have what it takes to win. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The Word of God holds power beyond your imagining, but the Holy Spirit understands how to use every, single word, phrase, sentence, paragraph and chapter to quicken your spirit with the spiritual weapon you’ll need for the battle you’re in. Psalm 149:6 says this: “Let the high praises of God be in their mouths, and two-edged swords in their hands.” Worship keeps your connection to the mighty Spirit of God alive, vital and flowing. Prayer keeps the conversation going between you and Him. The Word of God is the language He speaks. Once that word comes, do NOT let go of it. Stand in faith. Write it down everywhere. Declare it. Refuse to speak against it. Make it your confession about your situation. Say what the Word says and don’t stop until the battle is won.
