He knew and came ANYWAY.

One of the most beautiful, profound mysteries of the faith is that Jesus Christ was present during the creation of the world (John 1:2) and then, even though He’d been a witness to all of its dark history, He came down anyway to that world and experienced the human condition. John wrote, “The true Light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world” and “He was in the world, and the world was created through Him, yet the world did not know Him.Β He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.Β Yet to all who received Him, He gave the power to become sons of God, to those who believed in His name,Β who were born…of God.” (John 1:9-13)

“The Word” who is Jesus Christ “became flesh” and “dwelt among us” so that sinful man could be reconciled to God once again. Did you ever stop to think about the intensity of the love of God for you that, as early as the Garden of Eden, when sin first entered into the world, God then spent the next 2,000 years from that point forward planning and orchestrating a way for you to draw near to Him once again? Why did God have to do all of that? One word: Holiness. God is holy and will not partner with, tolerate or dapple in darkness of any kind and sin is darkness. (1 John 1:5-7) Once sin came, God was immediately separated from humankind – the very beings He created for fellowship and relationship – and man was thrust into darkness and away from God.

God loves you so deeply, so passionately and so intensely that He was willing to break off part of His own self to know *exactly* what you’re going through, so you could have a way out, a way ahead, a way through.

In 1 Timothy 6:16 Paul wrote that , “He alone has immortality, living in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen, nor can see. To Him be honor and everlasting power. Amen.” So what did God do? For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.Β For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17) God made a path back to you so that you and He could be close once again and He did it in a way that Satan couldn’t get to – within your spirit. If you have Jesus Christ, you have enough. Through Jesus God sees you as holy enough, blameless enough, righteous enough. Will it always feel like enough? No! But remember this: God loves you so deeply, so passionately and so intensely that He was willing to break off part of His own self to know *exactly* what you’re going through (see Hebrews 4:15), so you could have a way out, a way ahead, a way through. There is victory in Jesus!

Thought for today

“And if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is alive because of righteousness.Β But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that lives in you.” (Romans 8:10-11) You are alive in Christ! He was there from the beginning and His birth into human form, His sinless life amid the misery of the human condition, His willing death and His triumphant resurrection are why we worship! (See 2 Corinthians 5:21) Amen!
