Worship Devotions

You won the battle, but what did you lose?

For as long as the Lord tarries and the earth remains, there will be battles to face in your life. Praise God you have not been left weaponless nor defenseless in such battles! Prayer and the Word of God are two mighty weapons, but if all you have utilized in your are these two, you’re fighting with fewer weapons than have been made available to you. Think of it like trying to stand in faith on top of a stool with only two legs… you’ll constantly feel imbalanced, shaky, nervous and much of your efforts will end up going into trying to keep from falling. You must strengthen your instinct to minister to the Lord in praise and worship! Worship, the Word of God and prayer will ensure that you always have stability under your feet as your stand in faith.

We love to celebrate the victories God gives over the enemy and we should absolutely take those victories, turn them into fall-on-the-ground gratitude and worship the Lord – but as we count victories, we must also tally the losses. In every battle, there are losses to be counted – but wait! Not all losses are bad! As you fight for your family, your ministry, your vision, demonic resistance and strongholds and more – you will win and lose throughout the fight, but keep this in mind: Some losses are actually wins through the power of God.

You must strengthen your instinct to minister to the Lord in praise and worship! Worship, the Word of God and prayer will ensure that you always have stability under your feet as your stand in faith.

Maybe when you started this battle, you were afraid of the opinions of others. Maybe you thought you didn’t have what it takes. Maybe you were carnal. Maybe you were filled with doubt, fear, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, wounds and pain. Maybe your faith was weak. And as you have pressed on ahead in the Lord, pushing past those things, battling against the enemy’s lies and deceptions you look back and realize those things you held onto so tightly were defeated along the way and you no longer struggle and contend with them to the level you once did. Those losses are WINS in Christ!

Even if your answers haven’t come yet, but you’ve grown in Christ, developed spiritual disciplines, honed your habits and instincts to turn to the Lord in worship, dive more deeply into the Word, travail in prayer and you’ve become stronger – even a little bit – those are a win because they represent the loss of things you needed to get rid of anyway! Today, look back on your journey of faith and celebrate the losses!!

Thought for today

“But what things were gain to me, I have counted these things to be loss for the sake of Christ. Yes, certainly, I count everything as loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have forfeited the loss of all things and count them as rubbish that I may gain Christ, and be found in Him…” (Philippians 3:7-9) Hallelujah to the Lord! He doesn’t define a WIN or a LOSS like we do!! As you reflect on the Lord today, think about His goodness, mercy and faithfulness to you because the first victories you ever experience in this journey of faith will be seen within yourself before they are seen outside of you. AMEN TO THAT! <3
