The Weapon of Worship

Sometimes Winning Spiritual Warfare Means Just Staying Alive!

Every warrior in the faith knows that the battles we face can become a life-or-death situation very quickly. People trapped in sin and darkness are going to behave like the master they serve, “…their father, the devil…” (John 8:44) and he will use them to try and do you harm, for as long as you live for Christ on this earth. Why do bad things happen? Why do such troubles come to God’s people? Because Satan has legal access through every channel of darkness represented by every human being who allows darkness into their lives. But as hard as it ever gets, did you DIE? No. Sometimes winning spiritual warfare means just saying alive!

In His unending goodness, God has given all of humanity a choice and until all of humanity chooses God, the nations will continue to rage (Psalm 2:1) and God’s goodness will continue to be with His people through everything we face. Amen! That’s why I worship! When you look at the lives of others in the Bible who have fought battles and won victories, you’ll notice a common theme in their lives: They never fought just one battle – and neither will you.

When you’ve faced a fierce battle in your faith, you must fight to the death because your enemy will!! Either he will cause the death of your faith or you will put to death his opportunities in your life. You don’t need to tremble before Satan because you’re a worshipper! You “serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling” as the Psalmist wrote, because “blessed are all those who take refuge in Him.” (Psalm 2:11-12)

You’re Alive to Fight Another Day!

In Psalm 2:1-4 the Psalmist wrote, Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying, ‘Let’s break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us [yet] He who sits in the heavens will laugh. God WILL have the victory. “

When you look at the lives of others in the Bible who have fought battles and won victories, you’ll notice a common theme in their lives: They never fought just one battle – and neither will you.

KEEP GOING. Worship and praise will provide you joy for strength, peace amid the storm and will invite the presence of God to go with you. Did you get wounded? Maybe. Is a lion or a bear or a giant coming at you? Perhaps. Does it seem like the enemy succeeded in gaining ground in battle? Possibly. (although that is a LIE) Are you exhausted and spent, crying and confused, battling fear, anxiety, anger, and straining to see the promises of God fulfilled? Probably. BUT DID YOU DIE? NO. Whatever hell has unleashed at you, survey your battlefield, no matter how ugly, painful or devastated you are and ask yourself this: BUT DID YOU DIE? Maybe you wanted to die, but if Satan did not literally kill you, you are alive to fight another day. WORSHIP THE LORD!

Thought for today: Satan Can Only Win if He Has Your Permission

Satan has legal access into your life through areas of darkness, so that means your fight will always be spiritual- to begin with. You’ll see victory within yourself before you see it in the battles outside of you. If he tries to oppress you when you are “walking in the light” (1 John 4:7) with the Lord, that is an ILLEGAL move- and you have the spiritual authority in Jesus’ name to MAKE HIM STOP. Even so, he will fight, but don’t give up because HE HAS TO FLEE (James 4:7) as long as you remain in the light!

Worship makes you refuse to listen to the fear of others or even fear within yourself, willing to face the unthinkable alone, if need be. Worship makes you push past the crowd and demand better for the Lord. Worship stirs your passion for the Lord. Worship makes you battle ready. Worship emboldens you from a place deep within. Worship makes you walk up to other Christians and challenge their faith, and make them uncomfortable and they may revile you and mock your passion and misunderstand your motives. But who cares?! Worship ups the ante. Worship infuriates the devil and will cause him to attack with greater violence. BUT DID YOU DIE?! No, you did not. You are alive to fight another day. And if you can’t fight- STAND. (Eph. 6:13) Even better- KNEEL DOWN and get into worship. Worship is how you stay connected to the Spirit of God, and you’ll find everything you need in His presence. WORSHIP will keep your spirit alive and you will win the war!
