Worship shows you trust the Lord

There are so many seasons in life when we struggle to hear the Lord, to sense Him in our situations, to feel Him close by or to see Him moving, yet to entertain thoughts that contradict His Word about who He said He will put you on shaky ground! The essence of faith is that you have nothing to base your beliefs on except for the things you cannot perceive with your natural senses. “Lord, we show our trust in You by obeying Your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify Your name,” (NLT) Isaiah wrote. (Isaiah 26:8)

The enemy wants to drag you back down into the natural realm, where he has his domain and influence and authority. This is why we must discipline ourselves, force ourselves when necessary, to pull away from the flesh and walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh,” Paul wrote in Galatians 5:17. Your heart’s desire is to glorify the name of God because you love Him. That isn’t in question! However, sometimes our heart’s desire is in conflict as we war between what we experience in the flesh, in the natural space, and what we know in faith about God and His goodness and love.

Our most passionate worship tends to be when life is going really well, when the opposite should be true- your ugliest, most passionate, heartfelt, exhausting worship should be when life is its most brutal.

“We show our trust in You buy obeying Your laws,” Isaiah wrote. If you trust God and are believing that He will breakthrough, perform an act of trust by worshipping Him today- maybe right now! Show God, and show the enemy where your faith is. Worshipping isn’t a “law” associated with punishment anymore because of Jesus Christ, however, Hebrews 10:16 says that the “laws” – the things God desires of His people – are still present through the Spirit and we now have the option to obey- or not: “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.” There are principles that are associated with breakthrough and blessing in the obedience of worship, but sometimes it means willing a battle against the flesh, first! Remember, your worship is proof that you trust God.

Thought for today

When you choose to obey and worship Him and willingly humble yourself, show Him your submission, give thanks and bless His name, even as the storms rage around you, your faith is the proof that God’s Word is true (Hebrews 11:1); you are confident that He is who He said He is and that He will do what He said He will do. Hold steady and worship. If your heart’s desire is to glorify His name, don’t let anything stop you.

So many times we wait for the right opportunities to worship God- the right time, the right place, the right conditions in our lives. Our most passionate worship tends to be when life is going really well, when the opposite should be true- your ugliest, most passionate, heartfelt, exhausting worship should be when life is its most brutal. There isn’t a right time and place to worship- just worship.
