Worship Devotions

Don’t judge yourself unworthy- just WORSHIP!

When you accepted Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as your Lord and Savior, you became worthy of relationship with our holy God. Have you sinned since then? Probably! I know I have! Yet, God the Father sees you through the lens of Jesus Christ and we turn to Jesus when we struggle with sin issues knowing that He helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26). Even so, amid it all- you are still counted as worthyΒ because of Jesus. Worthy to pray and have God hear your prayers. Worthy to study and learn from your Bible and share your testimony with others. Worthy for the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. Worthy to experience His blessing. Worthy to worship.

We feel like we deserved to be cursed and un-blessed and punished, but Jesus Christ went through the trauma and devastation of His death and crucifixion to take all of that, so stop taking it back from Him! You are worthy to worship the Lord.

One of the hardest things you’ll ever experience is drawing near to God when you know you’ve not been living as He would want for you. Why? Because you listen to the voice of the enemy and judge yourself unworthy. The Christians in the early church were having similar issues. Check this out from Acts 13: “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first. But seeing you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles… When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord.” (v. 46, 48) The Christians and Jews of the early church weren’t rejecting God outright. They were rejecting the notion that Jesus was enough for them to be counted worthy of Him. Yet when the Gentiles, those lost in sin, heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, they rejoiced! They were set free! Why can’t you be!?

[Read this next: “Judge Not”?!]

Satan lies to you constantly. He would love nothing more than to disconnect your mind and heart and spirit from the Lord- using your own guilty conscious to do it. Yet, if you are in Christ, your guilt and sin are covered by His blood. What a rotten liar he is! Paul wrote, “When you were dead in your sinsΒ and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you aliveΒ with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,Β having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,Β which stood against us and condemned us; He has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:13-14) So, do you believe the Word of God or not?! You are worthy because He is worthy! Stop judging yourself unworthy for all the bad things you have done and for not being more committed to the Lord or not reading your Bible enough and just worship the Lord!!

Thought for today

When we make bad decisions and do stupid things, the last thing we want is to worship the Lord. We feel like we deserved to be cursed and un-blessed and punished, but Jesus Christ went through the trauma and devastation of His death and crucifixion to take all of that, so stop taking it back from Him! You are worthy to worship the Lord. Don’t let anyone or anything – not even your own sense of unworthiness – take that from you. Worship is a spiritual weapon of power and Satan would love nothing more than to disarm you from one of the weapons that will absolutely defeat him. Get on your face and worship the Lord no matter what – no matter what you feel, no matter what others are saying, no matter what you’ve done (or haven’t done). You’ll find victory over the enemy, and over yourself, there.
