“Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?”
After overcoming Satan, the worshipping saints in heaven ask this important question: “Who shall not fear You, O Lord,Β and glorify Your name?” This question matters because it is being asked by people who have given their whole lives to fight the enemy and glorify God – that is the essence of the Christian existence! Then, as they worship the Lord, they ask the entire world: WHO shall not fear You? Who dares to not fear the Lord? Have you any idea of His might? His wonders? His works? His holiness? What a powerful and overwhelming experience that must have been to be so overcome with the glory of God that you can’t help but cry out!
Once you have had a glimpse of the magnitude of God, all you want to do is tell the world!
These are the kind of questions asked by people who already know the answers. Once you have had a glimpse of the magnitude of God, all you want to do is tell the world! It is almost like you’re daring people to acknowledge that they don’t feel the same way. Talk about controlling the spiritual atmosphere! And for those who don’t know? They’re about to be told! “All nations will comeΒ and worship before You,” the worshipping saints cry out because they know “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,Β andΒ every tongue should confess that Jesus ChristΒ isΒ Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)Β
Worship is an eternal state of being in heaven. It doesn’t cease day or night. For those who dare to not fear the Lord or won’t glorify His name now, they ultimately will bow down either here on earth, or when they stand before the Lord after their death. Worship is your point of connection to God here on earth and your spirit will catch glimpses of His greatness, only to be fully realized in heaven. Those worshipping saints? They had overcome Satan and had seen his mighty defeat and as they were overcome with seeing the greatness of God, they couldn’t help, but cry out in worship and dare the world to say otherwise!
Thought for today
Why should anything on earth operate differently than it does in heaven? In so much as we are able, we should daily strive to pattern our lives after what we see in the Word of God. Certainly there is much to be understood, but what we do know is this: Worship in heaven is an unending response to the greatness of God.Β Go ahead and look around you and see who dares to not worship. They need to know what you know! “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hearΒ without a preacher?Β And how shall they preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15) Here, now, on earth, your awe of God, your worship, is a testimony of victory (even before you actually have it!), of God’s greatness and of His very nature. Don’t just worship when you’re alone, stand with other warriors and dare the world to watch!
