When God raises the dead in you, people will come see

The story of Lazarus, the man that Jesus raised from the dead, continues to resonate with followers of Jesus Christ, even thousands of years later. Why? Because his miracle of raising the dead to live encompasses the hopes and dreams of anyone who has ever lost a loved one. We all want to see death defeated before our very eyes, as the disciples did when Jesus was there. But in this life, there are types of death that go well beyond the physical realm, and the effects are harder to see, but devastating nonetheless.

Have you ever had a dream die? A hope? Have you experience experienced a broken heart? Or the death of a friendship? A marriage? Have you ever seen the death of someone’s faith in Christ? Those are painful death experiences we all face on our life’s journey. But God.

Jesus is our hope of life amid the deaths we experience on every level while we are alive here on earth.

Jesus Christ did more than set a literal, physical example of resurrection when He called Lazarus out from his grave. Jesus did more than set a literal, physical example of triumph over death when He, Himself, rose from the grave. Yes, because He rose Jesus is our hope of eternal life with Christ, but it goes further than that.Β Jesus is our hope of life amid the deaths we experience on every level while we are alive here on earth. John 12:9-10, “When many of the Jews learned that He was there, they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.”

Jesus Christ has the power to raise all of the dead to life, according to God’s will. And as Jesus Christ beckons you, and you choose to walk forward from the grave, from the place that held you in death, people will come “not for Jesus’ sake only”, but that they might also see you, the one who rose to life again out of impossible circumstances! You are a living witness to the goodness of God! I don’t know what those things are for you, what things you have seen die in your life, but I do know that Jesus Christ raises the dead to life. I know that He “who raises the dead, and calls those things that do not exist as though they did” (Romans 4:17) is the hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27)

Thought for today

Remember when you were once “dead in your trespasses and sins,Β in which you formerly walked according to the age of this world and according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience”?

Remember when, “among them we all also once lived in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and we were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest”?

Remember when, “God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,Β even when we were dead in sins, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),Β and He raised us up and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,Β so that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus”? (Ephesians 2:1-7)

Take heart, friends! God calls life into the grave and the world will watch you walk forward from death and God will have the glory in your LIFE! <3
