Seasons of darkness come to everyone. We all experience seasons of blindness, where everything is so hard to see – where to walk, which decision to make, how God will work things out. But people with faith in God should never fear darkness because He is light. His Word gives light to the dark paths (Psalm 119:105). God is not only the Father of lights (James 1:17), where not even shadows can exist in His presence – but God is Light. (1 John 1:5)
The first thing God did, ever, ever, ever was to speak light into the darkness (Genesis 1:2). But you know what? That wasn’t just “light” or illumination – that light was Jesus Christ, the Light of the World. (John 8:12) See here? John 1:1-5 says, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He, Jesus, the Word, existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
If you choose to walk with God, you never have to fear darkness. Darkness is not the absence of light. Darkness is the absence of God, who is light. Stay within the Light. Stay near the Light. Walk in the Light. Bring the Light with you wherever you go. Move to be closer to the Light. Remember, God has, “has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” so that “you may declare the goodness of Him.” Amen!
