The world loves to declare statements of personal empowerment like “Speak your truth!” when really, that is completely opposite of what the Bible says. In fact, when we “speak our truth”, it often contradicts the things God would say about us, or about the people in our lives, or about our circumstances. Remember, God partners with His Words, not ours.
Isaiah 55:11 says, “My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Only God’s words have any real power. Our words may feel powerful in the moment, but we who are in Christ do not walk according to how we feel and we don’t speak by how we feel either – and that is a spiritual discipline that will support your success for your entire life!
Proverbs 17:27 says, “He who has knowledge spares his words,” and Proverbs 10:19 says, “In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
“Sanctify them by Your truth,” Jesus said in John 17:17. “Your Word is truth.” Forget the world and its platitudes! Speak the truth of the Word of God over every circumstance and situation and you’ll see what real empowerment is like!
