Worship is powerful, yes, but do you know why? So many people worship God out of tradition or routine or obligation, but they miss the point! Connecting with the Holy Spirit of God through ministry to Him is the purpose of worship, but the power of worship doesn’t begin there, at the point of spirit-to-Spirit connection. True, God inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3), but it goes even deeper than that! Psalm 75:1 says, “We give thanks to You, O God; we give thanks and Your name is near…” Did you catch that? The phrase “give thanks” in this passage is the Hebrew word for worship yadah, which means, “To throw your hands up and forward while making a confession about God.”
Satan knows exactly what lies to tell you to make you feel like you can’t approach God in worship, but that’s because he knows that worship is exactly what you need to get set free!
When you yadah the Lord in your worship His name is near– that is where the power is! There are hundreds of names of God given in the Word and when you need Him, and you worship Him, that name draws near to you and to your situation and changes things! King of Glory (Ps. 24:8), Safe Refuge (Ps. 61:3), Awesome One (Ps. 76:11), Hope of Israel (Jer. 14:8), Our Light and Protector (Ps. 84:11), The Anointed One (Dan. 9:26), Mighty King (Ps. 99:4), Lover of Justice (Ps. 99:4), The One who calls you by name (Is. 45:3), Word of Life (1 John 1:1), God of the Breakthrough (2 Sam. 5:20), Creator and King (Is. 43:15) – there are so many more! The power of worship is the nearness of God!
Minister unto the Lord with your yadah praise and watch what happens! Worship is a lifestyle and must be continual (Hebrews 13:15) because the attacks of Satan are continual! Minister thanks to God and the Lord of Heaven’s Armies (Isaiah 8:13-18) will fight for you. Yadah the Lord and The Revealer of Mysteries (Daniel 2:29) will bring you the answer you have been seeking for. Lift up your hands and worship, making confessions of who God is and the God of the Breakthrough (will transform the impossible into the possible! That is the power of worship. The enemy would like nothing more than to tell you that you are disqualified because of something you did, or said or though- but it’s a lie! Worship and get connected to God and get set free!
Thought for today
It can feel really hard to enter into worship when you know that you have sinned against God. Satan will use that sin to try and keep you away from worship because he understands it power much better than you do. Satan knows exactly what lies to tell you to make you feel like you can’t approach God in worship, but that’s because he knows that worship is exactly what you need to get set free! Enter into worship and minster to the Lord. Lift Him high. Yes, you can and should, “…come with confidence to the throne of grace, that you may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) God is waiting for you with all of His mighty power so get into worship!
