If you want your praise to be perfect before God, worship like a child -

There are many times in the Bible that children are shown to be very beloved of Jesus. “Let the little children come to Me, and don’t stop them…”, Jesus said to His disciples. (Matthew 19:14) “…Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven,” He said in Matthew 18:2-4.

Here’s something fascinating: In Psalm 8:2 David wrote, “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength because of Your enemies, to silence the enemy and the avenger.” Yet in Matthew 21: 15:16 the Bible says this, “…But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that [Jesus] did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were extremely displeased and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and infants You have perfected praise’?”

The heart of a very little child knows no unforgiveness, no fear, no anger, no pain, no suffering, no ties to the past, no disappointment or failed expectations…When your worship reflects this same heart, your praise is ‘perfect’ or complete.

David said “strength” while Jesus, the Author of the New Covenant, using the same reference, instead used the word “praise“. Why? The heart of a very little child knows no unforgiveness, no fear, no anger, no pain, no suffering, no ties to the past, no disappointment or failed expectations. They simply love. They trust. They cling. They run toward. They embrace. They have happy hearts. They don’t question, they accept. When your worship reflects this same heart, your praise is ‘perfect’ or complete, Jesus said. And therein lies your strength, as David noted, “to silence the enemy and the avenger”. Amen!

Thought for today

The voice of the enemy exalts itself against what God says about you (2 Corinthians 10:5). You must worship God according to His Word, which is the only source of truth in existence. Your strength to face and overcome anything will be “perfect” and “complete” when you simply worship God, trust Him, cling to Him, run toward Him, and accept Him as your Savior and worship Him for all His goodness. That’s the power of worship! Worship is the driving force behind faith. Draw near to God in worship and with the sole intention to love and adore Him. Don’t beg, complain or bring your baggage to lay at His feet. Simply lift up your hands and worship Him because He is worthy, as a child would do- and you’ll find that all you need, His hand has provided.
