When God breathed life in you, it was for the purpose of walking in fellowship with you. From the beginning of creation, God’s purpose in creating humanity was to have a relationship. He made you in His image, and not according to the image of the plants or animals so that you could think and reason and make independent decisions and intentionally choose Him, as He chose you.
Literally, you were made to worship. Isaiah 43:7 says, “…for I have created him for My glory. I have formed him, and I have made him.” You were created to worship Him. The purpose of worship is to minister to the Lord, and if you are not actively living a life of worship, one where your mind meditates on Him in gratitude and offers up the sacrifice of praise daily, you are existing outside of your purpose.
The life you breathe in was given because God desires a relationship with you.
Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” The life you breathe in was given because God desires a relationship with you. Specifically, you. You’ve heard you were created for a purpose and in your heart you’ve known there must be a plan- but what is it? It’s worship. God wants you to draw near to Him. Set aside time to focus on connecting to the Spirit of God, from your spirit. Today, express your thanksgiving for the life He gave you as your act of worship.
So many people question their existence, seeking “why” their whole lives, when they were created to worship. If fact, if you are not worshipping Jesus Christ, you will, inevitably, worship something, and you’ll end up substituting a connection with God for a false sense of connection that will fail you when you need it the most. Your very humanity is fundamentally tied to your need to worship.
Thought for today
Hebrew 13:15 says, “Through [Jesus], then, let us continually offer to God the sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” Step into the purpose for which you were created- worship. In His presence is everything you need to make it through what this world throws at you. Worship and minister unto Him He is faithful to respond- He promised to do so in His Word and He is willing to prove it to you! In that place of worship, you will find answers to the questions your heart has been asking. The Lord is seeking you. He desires the kind of worship your spirit will offer. He has what you need and you have what He desires- you. How do you get to where He is? Worship will get you there.
