Worship Devotions

He is seeking you

“The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts…” ~Proverbs 20:27

The “candle of the Lord” is what makes each of us an eternal being- His Spirit, as the breath of life, exists inside every human being, good or evil, whether they acknowledge Him or not. We are as eternal as God is. Once He breathes His Spirit of life into the body at conception, our eternity is set in motion. That is why all of humanity regardless of faith, religion, choices, experiences or anything else, desires a spirit connection with… something.

Those who submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ find what they have been longing for. They feel filled a deep, inner place. Those who refuse to acknowledge Jesus are left to wander and end up worshipping idols of their own making- self, money, relationships, ambition, approval, and even sin.

We were created to connect with God spirit-to-Spirit. It’s a fundamental, undeniable, divine design by Him that can be denied and ignored and prostituted, but never eliminated. Jesus remarked in John 4:23-24 that “spirit and truth” worship would now be the hallmark of “true believers” because “God is Spirit”. Our spirit, connecting to His Spirit, is the primary goal of worship through the ministry of thanksgiving to Him.

We were created to connect with God spirit-to-Spirit. It’s a fundamental, undeniable, divine design by Him that can be denied and ignored and prostituted, but never eliminated.

The Lord seeks out this type of person to worship Him, Jesus said in John 4. God is a God of relationships. He made mankind for relationship, and His desire is to connect on that deeper, emotional, intimate level with us. He is interested in those who are interested in Him.

Thought for today

Psalm 115:4-8 says, “Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they cannot speak; eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but they cannot hear; noses, but they cannot smell; they have hands, but they cannot feel; feet, but they cannot walk; neither can they speak with their throat. Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them.” You were literally made to worship. When you connect with the Spirit of God, you are igniting a fresh flame that will change the world. Maintain a daily “gut check” through the Word of God, understanding your motivations, what you’re worshipping in your heart. Adjust as needed to stay focused on ministry unto Him. He is seeking you out!
